Food for the Ice - Beer Battered Crappies

Crisco Oil
1, 2 or 3 cans of beer
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt
1 cup of flour
1 egg
1 pound of Crappies

In a mixing bowl, mix the paprika, egg, beer and flour. By adding more flour or beer you can judge the correct consistency – batter should be on the thin side.

When preparing the fish for the mixture – really really dry your fillets.  then salt them.  Dip the fish into the mixture.  Once you have the Crisco oil nice and hot – place the fish into the oil and cook for approx. 5 minutes.  Once they are golden brown let cool and serve with your favorite can of beans and fresh baked rolls.
