In a work session at City Hall Monday evening, the Bemidji City Council established a new task force to develop an vision of what's to be done with the largely vacant rail corridor downtown.

Two city councilors—Reed Olson and Nancy Erickson—will be members as will representatives from Greater Bemidji and the Headwaters Regional Development Commission and about a dozen members of the community. Their job will be to formulate a vision and plan for redevelopment of about twenty acres of city-owned land adjacent to the rail line between Lake Irving and downtown Bemidji.

An open house for the project will be held some time in October seeking input from the public.
