In a work session Monday evening, the Bemidji City Council discussed ways of improving how the city considers new development projects. Councilors want to formalize how new proposals get reviewed before they reach the council for a vote.

An informal proposal review committee consisting of three council members, three members of city staff, and three members of the community, will guage new development proposals against criteria set by the council before recommending them for a vote. The proposed changes come as the city is actively working to sell off land for the development of the south shore of Lake Bemidji.
